Demonic possession, a terrifying topic that has appeared in innumerable films, television programmes, and even our worst nightmares, has left a lasting impression on popular culture. Classics like The Exorcist and the Paranormal Activity series are proof of our persistent interest in and apprehension over this paranormal phenomenon.
But we strive to ignore the fact that this is a reality for certain people. Exorcisms are being performed all across the world, supporting the idea that evil spirits are indeed there. The boundaries between cinematic imagination and frightening reality have been blurred, according to paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who have often claimed to have had direct meetings with demons.
Netflix The Devil on Trial
A new Netflix documentary titled “The Devil on Trial” explores the shocking case of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, creating a narrative of murder, trickery, and demonic possession. This is the actual account.
What is The Devil on Trial About?
A new Netflix documentary called “The Devil on Trial” examines the ‘Devil Made Me Do It’ case, which resulted in one of the 1980s’ most dramatic murder cases. It was the first case of its kind in the US where the defence team argued that the suspect, in this case Arne Cheyenne Johnson, was not guilty by reason of being under the influence of a demon at the time of the murder.
The trial started after Arne fatally stabbed his friend and landlord Alan Bono in the chest with a pocketknife in Brookfield, Connecticut, in November 1981.
True Story and Timeline of “The Devil on Trial”
The Devil on Trial on Netflix looks at the sequence of events that began with the alleged possession of David Glatzel, Arne’s girlfriend’s younger brother, when he was 11 years old. The family subsequently sought the assistance of paranormal researchers Ed and Lorraine Warren, whose cases served as the basis for the The Conjuring franchise, as a result of the alleged possession.
The documentary is intriguing because it presents both sides of the subject; David and Arne both participate in the movie to offer their perspectives and assert that they were once stalked by a demonic power. Although the story is supported by other family members, it’s crucial to remember that not everyone concurs with this particular account.
Where Are David Glatzel and Arne Cheyenne Johnson Now?
Due to his outstanding behaviour, Arne was freed from prison in 1986 after only five years. While incarcerated, he wed Debbie, the sister of David, and the two went on to have two children together, albeit Debbie later passed away. While David has vanished from view since the events of the case, it is possible that he is still residing in Connecticut.
Thanks to Arne and David’s interviews in the Netflix documentary The Devil on Trial, we are able to discover more about their current locations and the effects the case had on their lives. They continue to insist that in the early 1980s, they were controlled by a demon.
